Ryanair has announced that it has chosen Madrid as the location of a new training centre for pilots and cabin crew, with an investment of €100m. The new centre will have the capacity to train up to 250 pilots, cabin crew and other aviation professionals and will contain six Boeing 737 flight simulators.
Ryanair is the largest airline in Spain, operating more than 545 routes this winter and transporting more than 54 million passengers a year to and from Spain on its fleet of 76 aircraft based in the country. Along with the announcement, the company also launched four new routes for Winter 23/24 from Madrid including Aqaba, Essaouira, Liverpool and Treviso. 15 routes will also see increased frequencies including Amman, Birmingham, Krakow, Prague and Rome.
From Madrid, Ryanair CEO, Eddie Wilson, said: “In addition to the launch of our 23/24 winter itinerary, we have more good news for Madrid with today’s announcement about our €100 million pilot and cabin crew training centre, the largest aviation training centre in the south of Europe, which creates 150 new local jobs for Madrid. Ryanair’s new training centre in Madrid will house 6 state-of-the-art Boeing 737 simulators and will facilitate the training of up to 250 pilots and cabin crew per day, offering aspiring aviation professionals the opportunity to take advantage of our world-leading training sector and working with Europe’s number 1 airline, Ryanair, as we continue to grow our fleet with 390 737 aircraft on order and our traffic of over 300 million passengers a year by 2034.”
