Bray Air Display Photos – Part 1

The Bray Air Display was held over the weekend of July 29th / 30th. Thanks to everyone below who sent in photographs, more to follow over the next few days! The Irish Air Corps celebrates 60 years of helicopter operations this year. One of the more recent additional capabilities of the Air Corps is aerial firefighting using the Bambi Bucket on the AW139. The bucket can hold 1,000 litres of water and the crew of ‘279’ displayed their skill in collecting and dropping water during their display at Bray. Brendan Digney.
P-51 Mustang ‘Miss Helen’ made a fantastic sound during its flypasts including the characteristic ‘whistle’ from its gun ports during certain manoeuvres. Des Owens.

Eddie Goggins wowed the crowd as usual with his mesmerising display which included rapid rolls, tight loops and gyroscopic tumbles. He displays in Cap 232 G-IIAI painted in ‘Make a Wish Foundation’ colours. Des Owens.

Mark is an airline pilot flying the Boeing 737 for a major European airline. In addition he is also a Type Rating Instructor, Type Rating Examiner and Base Training Captain on the B737. Outside of commercial flying Mark enjoys flying light aircraft from the smallest 3 Axis microlights up to heavier singles. He is also an instructor and EASA Examiner on single engines and a UK CAA Examiner. He flies the Chipmunk for the Irish Historic Flight Foundation (IHFF). Mark became the Chairman of the National Microlight Association of Ireland (NMAI) in 2013 and has overseen a massive growth in the organisation. In this role he has worked at local and national levels. In 2015, Mark won ‘Upcoming Aviation Professional Award’ at the Aviation Industry Awards sponsored by the IAA. Mark launched this website back in 2002 while always managing the website, he has also been Editor and Deputy Editor of FlyingInIreland Magazine from 2005 to 2015.
