Dublin Airport released an operational update this week extending the operating hours of the new North Runway. As part of the phased opening, the Airport said that the hours of operation will extend to 8 pm from 1st June. It’s currently open from 09 am until 6 pm. They also said that they expect a further increase in opening hours later in the summer but not before 1st July.
Departing aircraft currently experience significant delays on the first wave of departures between 6 am and 8 am when only the south runway is in operation. With queues regularly backing up on the Foxtrot taxiways and on runway 16/34, even arriving traffic is often delayed due to congestion around Pier 3 and Terminal 2.
The Operational Update seems at odds with the NOTAM published by AirNav Ireland, the Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP) at the airport, which says that Runway 28R will only be available for departures during the hours of 9 am to 6 pm local until the 16th August.
