Shannon ATC Open Day
As part of its on-going commitment to enhance aviation safety, the Irish Aviation Authority has organised three Air Traffic Control Open Days for pilots at its air traffic control facilities in , Shannon, Dublin and Cork.
The Open Days are intended to give general aviation pilots, including those who have recently qualified or are undertaking training courses, an insight into how air traffic is managed by the IAA. Information will also be given on the part General Aviation activities play in day-to-day operations and the services that can be provided to pilots.
The Open Days will feature presentations by IAA Air Traffic Control staff on air traffic operations, including airspace structure, services provided and flight plan requirements, as well as outlining information on some of the operational and technical innovations being progressed by the IAA. There will also be orientation visits to the air traffic control towers (Dublin, Shannon and Cork) and air traffic control operations rooms (Dublin and Shannon), which will demonstrate the operations and tasks of the ACC staff. Representatives from the Aeromedical and Personnel Licensing departments of the IAA’s Safety Regulation Directorate will also participate.
