Fri03Apr2015Mon06Apr2015Tandragee Airfield, Co. Armagh
Flight of Hope 3rd to 6th April 2015
In March 2013 our daughter Christine was diagnosed with a brain tumour. She has undergone an urgent operation to remove the tumour followed by radiotherapy, chemotherapy and continues to fight this devastating disease with every day bringing its own challenges.
Christine and our family would really appreciate your support for The Brain Tumour Charity as cancer touches most families at some time in their lives. Every year this charity funds pioneering research into better ways to earlier diagnose and treat brain tumours and have given fantastic support to our family as they do for so many others.
Members of the Kernan Valley Flying Club and myself, Raphael, intend to fly around the coast of Ireland (weather permitting) on the Easter weekend from the 3rd to 6th April with as many aircraft and crews as possible.
Our journey of almost 1000 miles will start at Newcastle Co Down and follow the coast clockwise round Ireland, stopping at as many airfields along the way as possible (our route and full updates will be posted on Kernan Aviation’s Facebook page) to accept donations and raise awareness of the increase in cancer in UK and Ireland. So if you see an aircraft overhead think DONATE!
So how can you DONATE?
Donations can be made through Justgiving directly or via our Facebook page or website (see below) where you will find links to make the donation process even easier. You can also give donations to any of the pilots and crew who are members of the Kernan Valley Flying Club.
If you live in the UK you can also text your donation.
Example
To donate £5 text KVFC56 £5 on 70070
To donate £10 text KVFC56 £10 on 70070
To donate £50 text KVFC56 £50 on 70070
Don't forget to tick the gift aid box to maximize your donation.
https://www.justgiving.com/teams/KVFC
http://www.kernanaviation.co.uk
Together we can make a difference.
All donations from our Justgiving page will go straight to the relevant Charities, these will be gratefully received for further research into this devastating disease and to provide care in the local community.
Thanking you in anticipation,
The O’Carroll Family/Kernan Valley Flying Club

Sat30May2015Spanish Point Airfield, Co. Clare
Spanish Point airfield is open to visitors on Saturday 30th May, weather permitting. Aligning with the NMAI Around Ireland Rally, the club has decided to hold their Fly In on the Saturday.
This grass strip is about 450m long and the field is generally dry. However, if there is prolonged rain during the days preceeding the event, it may be too wet 'under-wheels' to hold the event. It is relatively easy to find directly south of Miltown Malbay and to the east of the Spanish Point Road. The bright red wind sock pin points the spot.
Camping areas are provided and festivities shall continue after the end of VFR in the town of Miltown Malbay!

Sat18Jul2015Sun19Jul2015Enniskillen Airport, Co. Fermanagh**** Air Racing is returning to Enniskillen Airport ****In July 2013 the Airport hosted a round of the Royal Areo Club Air Racing. Pilots and their race planes travelled from Ireland, England and Wales to participate in an event which saw them flying a low level course around Lower Lough Erne. Due to the success of this event the Royal Aero Club have confirmed their return on the 18th and 19th July 2015.Air racing in the UK is certainly as old as aviation itself and the magnificent trophies competitors race for each year carry some pioneers in the history of flight. Unlike aerobatics, handicap racing around a 25 mile course provides a spectacle unrivalled in the UK general aviation scene. Whether pilot, enthusiast or spectator the annual series of races around the UK provide a great opportunity to experience real close quarter racing.Further details will be announced as they become available. The Website of the Royal Aero Club Records Racing and Rally Association, affectionately known by members as the RRR’s can be viewed by clicking here.

Wed25Nov20158:00 pmWynns Hotel, Abbey Street, Dublin 1
This lecture is under the auspices of the Royal Aeronautical Society Republic of Ireland Branch and all are welcome (no charge). The lecturer is excellent and his knowledge extends to the often colourful after-life (of those who survived).
SPEAKER: Mr. Joe Gleeson
TITLE: "Irish airmen of World War I“
SYNOPSIS:
Several of the highest scoring scout (fighter) aces of the First World War, such as Mannock, Hazel and McElroy, were Irish. Many critical wartime aeronautical developments were made by Irishmen, e.g. John Cyril Porte's flying boats and Neville Florian Usborne's airships.
Many Irishmen who served with the RFC, RNAS and RAF in World War I went on to play a notable role in aviation history in Chile, Lithuania and Ireland during the inter-war years, with yet others still attaining senior rank in the RAF in World War II.
The lecture would seek to address the contribution of the Irish aces to the Allied cause, but will focus on a number of squadrons with a significant Irish contingent.
It will also seek to briefly cover Huston's role in Chile and the wartime service of the early Irish Air Corps pilots and observers from an RAF background, e.g. William Jasper McSweeney, Charles F Russell, William Percy Delamere, James C Fitzmaurice, Wilfrid Hardy and renowned Camel ace Oscar Heron.

Come and find out more about a Pilot Career at British Airways
Here at British Airways we are growing. More opportunities to join our pilot team are now present. We are continually introducing new aircraft including the Airbus A380 and revolutionary Boeing 787. We are actively recruiting now and for 2016 we envisage over 350 pilots joining the fraternity, with over half of these vacancies requiring direct entry onto our longhaul fleets.
We're coming out to meet experienced pilots who are interested in finding out more about what we have to offer in what we hope will be a relaxed and informal setting. The events will be run by the BA pilot recruitment team, and a small team of line pilots who are keen to meet you and to talk about life as a pilot with us.
This roadshow will follow a different style to previously. There will be a rolling 'drop in' opportunity available during the day as well as two set presentation times. Depending on the number of people present at any one time we will answer queries individually or through a wider reaching presentation. We have planned presentations at 10:00 and 16:00 with a 2 hour lunchtime drop in session 12:00 - 14:00 for general questions. Please do come and join us. If you can please book for the session you wish to attend so that we can ensure we have sufficient people on hand to give you the personal service you deserve.
The presentations are aimed at experienced pilots including those who hold type ratings on any of the aircraft BA currently operates or has on order.
At this time, we are not seeking attendees who are low-hour or trainee pilots, but if you fall into one of these categories we'd be delighted to meet you at one of the other events we support including Pilot Careers Live, formerly the Flyer Professional Flight Training Exhibition.
We really look forward to meeting you. Don't worry about dressing up for the occasion, we'll be going for a smart casual approach to keep the event relaxed!
