AerCap Holdings and the University of Limerick have announced that Sadhbh Jordan, a first-year student in the Bachelor of Aeronautical Engineering programme at UL, has been awarded this year’s AerCap Women in Aviation Scholarship. A native of County Clare, Limerick, Sadhbh was selected through a thorough application process that evaluated students’ passion for aviation and their academic achievements. Now in its sixth year, the scholarship provides students with a bursary of €5,000 per year throughout the 4-year programme, along with the opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the aviation leasing industry through an eight-month internship.
Commenting at the presentation of the scholarship, the Head of Engine Portfolio & Rental Operations at AerCap, Denise Mangan-Fahy said, “We are very pleased to continue to support the Women in Aviation Scholarship programme. Through this initiative, we aim to encourage more women to pursue engineering programmes, fostering a pipeline of diverse, highly skilled talent to support the future growth and development of the aviation industry. We are very much looking forward to welcoming Sadhbh to AerCap for her internship.”
Also commenting was the Director of Development at the University of Limerick Foundation, Sarah Hartnett who added “We are very grateful to AerCap for their generosity and leadership in encouraging our female students to reach their full potential in the aviation industry. It is so inspiring to see the impact that this scholarship programme has had on the lives and careers of many women since its inception.”
