The Minister for Transport invites expressions of interest from suitably qualified candidates to fill two vacancies on the Board of the Shannon Airport Group.
Applications are invited to fill two positions on the Board from candidates who possess the skills and experience necessary to fulfil obligations in line with the roles and responsibilities set out in the Code. Candidates must demonstrate evidence of significant proven experience as set out in at least one of the discipline profiles 1-3 below.
Profile 1 – Accounting/Finance
Essential Criteria
Candidates must demonstrate in their applications evidence of a career history serving in positions of leadership at an appropriately senior level (e.g., executive level and/or equivalent advisory level and/or Board membership) in an organisation of scale.
In addition, for Profile 1, candidates must demonstrate in their application evidence of significant experience in each of the following areas:
- Financial experience across accounting, audit, financial risk management, corporate finance or other relevant financial disciplines;
- A professional accountancy or finance qualification and have current membership of the relevant professional body;
- Experience of sitting on, interacting with, and/or advising an Audit & Risk Committee (ARC);
- Experience of assessment of large capital investment and/or projects; and
- Demonstrable knowledge of the role of a board in terms of corporate governance, strategy oversight, reporting and risk management.
It is expected that the successful candidate for this role will serve on the Audit and Risk Committee of the Board.
Profile 2 – Tourism Development/Management
Essential Criteria
Candidates must demonstrate in their applications (i) a strong understanding of the Shannon Airport Group’s external environment and marketplace and a knowledge of the drivers and opportunities for economic development in the mid-west region and (ii) evidence of a career history serving in positions of leadership at an appropriately senior level (e.g., executive level and/or equivalent advisory level and/or Board membership) in an organisation of scale and/or large geographic remit, with significant experience in at least one of the following areas:
- Tourism development on a regional, national and/or international basis;
- Hospitality business development and management; or
- Airline and/or aviation.
Profile 3 – Commercial Property Development/Management
Essential Criteria
Candidates must demonstrate in their applications (i) a strong understanding of the commercial real estate market in Ireland (including the mid-west region) and (ii) evidence of significant experience in the commercial property sector at an appropriately senior/acknowledged expert level in at least two of the following areas:
- Development of commercial/industrial park schemes;
- Commercial and/or legal aspects of commercial property transactions;
- Commercial property valuation; and/or
- Management of commercial property portfolio of assets.
