The memory of a lovely summer day at Weston Airport, when the skies came alive on Saturday, July 29th, remains fresh in the minds of aviation enthusiasts whose generosity shone through.
Aircraft and crews participating in the Bray Air Display dropped in for an unforgettable Breakfast Fly-In event, welcoming aviation enthusiasts who purchased tickets for a hangar breakfast prepared by the talented team from Hook & Ladder.
The event, held from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., was a remarkable celebration of the General Aviation Community, offering attendees the chance to witness the aircraft and engage with the crews of some of the Bray Air Display participants.
A significant highlight of this event was its philanthropic mission to support local St. Vincent de Paul (SVP) charities. The proceeds from the Breakfast Fly-In were directly allocated to SVP, underscoring the community’s commitment to making a positive impact. Families were warmly welcomed, and children under 12 were granted free admission, ensuring an inclusive and family-friendly atmosphere.
Attendees not only enjoyed an exceptional aviation experience but also found satisfaction in knowing that their contributions were directed towards a meaningful cause.
The event received an overwhelming response, with attendees’ generous contributions amounting to an impressive €25,000 raised. These funds will join the collective raised by the aviation community for various St Vincent de Paul conferences, exceeding a remarkable milestone of €400,000.
“We are elated by the tremendous success of the Breakfast Fly-In event and the generosity of the aviation community,” remarked Sé Pardy, event organiser, expressing gratitude for the invaluable support of Derick Walshe and Weston’s management team, without whom the Bray Airshow would not be possible.
“The funds raised will undoubtedly make a substantial and enduring impact on the initiatives supported by St Vincent de Paul, empowering them to sustain their vital work within our local communities.”
The organisers extend their heartfelt appreciation to all attendees, sponsors, and supporters whose contributions ensured the success of this event. This event stands as a testament to the positive change that can be accomplished when a community unites in support of a common cause. The fundraising continues in November with the launch of the 2024 Irish Air Spectacular Aviation Calendar, a beautiful 14-page A4 calendar that features stunning aviation photographs, some taken from the next edition of Irish Air Spectacular Volume 2.
