@jonostrower Southwest has a set of inviolable criteria for what it wants in an airplane from Boeing and Airbus: An airplane that can do both regional and transcon flights efficiently and that need gives the airline enormous power to shape the future airplanes we fly.
@jonostrower Worth remembering, Southwest knows what it costs to fly a split fleet. While not in the same company colors, the carrier had AirTran and its 717s for a full year and gave it a first-hand look inside the economics before sending them all to Delta.
