A little late, but here’s the report for the Birr Breakfast fly-in that took place on Sunday 8th April at Birr Airfield. Hosted by the Ormand Flying Club, this event is traditionally the beginning of the Irish fly-in season. Surprisingly the weather relatively good but prolonged rain in the weeks leading up to the event meant that many aircraft were stranded at unusable runways up and down the country. The Irish Historic Flight planned to have 3 aircraft there however only Chipmunk 168 (EI-HFA) made it. 169 (EI-HFB) was stranded at Ballyboy while Boeing Stearman EI-HFD was stuck at Lyons. There were 29 visitors in total in addition to the aircraft based at Birr. Our thanks to Paddy Kilduff for supplying the list of aircraft that attended and the selection of photos. Well done to the crew at Birr for an excellent breakfast. The next fly-in is the ILAS Breakfast fly-in on Sunday 29th April at ILAS Field in Wexford.
