Shannon Airport is Ireland’s Fastest-Growing Major Airport

Latest figures published by the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation (ITIC) show Shannon Airport recorded the strongest passenger growth among Ireland’s major airports in July, with passenger traffic increasing by almost 9% compared to the same month last year. Shannon was Ireland’s fastest-growing major airport in May, June and July this year, highlighting the demand for both inbound and outbound travel through the airport during the peak summer season.

Commenting on the figures, the CEO of The Shannon Airport Group, Ray O’Driscoll, said: “We’re delighted to be Ireland’s fastest-growing major airport for the third month in a row. This performance reflects the strength of our route network and the growing number of passengers, locally, regionally and nationally, who are choosing Shannon for both business and leisure travel. In July, over 280,000 passengers travelled through Shannon, with the UK, Spain, the USA, Poland and Portugal proving our most popular destinations. We also saw a strong response to our new Summer 2026 services, with thousands of passengers taking advantage of new direct connections to Warsaw, Madrid, Poznan, Rome and Frankfurt. We’d like to thank everyone who chose Shannon this summer. Our focus now is on building on this momentum, delivering even more choice and connectivity, and welcoming growing numbers of passengers through our doors in the months ahead.”
