Pilots operating in the Greater Dublin area this week should be aware that the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) has published two Temporary Restricted Areas (TRAs) covering much of the Dublin CTR and surrounding airspace for security reasons. The restrictions have been requested by the Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration and will affect general aviation operations on both Wednesday 15th July and Friday 17th July 2026.
The restricted airspace extends from the surface to 4,000 feet AMSL and covers a large area surrounding Dublin, including instrument approach procedures for Dublin Airport, Weston Airport and Casement Aerodrome. The airspace within the TRA will be classified as ICAO Class C for the duration of the restrictions.
Dates and Times
Wednesday 15th July 2026
The TRA will be active from 1500 UTC until 1930 UTC (1600–2030 local time).
Friday 17th July 2026
The TRA will be active from 1500 UTC until 1800 UTC (1600–1900 local time).
Who Can Operate?
The following flights will be permitted within the restricted airspace:
- State aircraft.
- Irish Coast Guard aircraft.
- HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medical Service) operators on operational missions.
- Flights specifically authorised by Baldonnel ATS.
- Scheduled commercial traffic operating to and from Dublin Airport, including missed approach procedures.

Who Is Restricted?
All other aircraft operations within the TRA will be prohibited during the activation periods. The IAA has also stated that any exemptions or permissions normally granted to civil general air traffic will not be valid within the TRA during the published times unless specifically included in the permitted categories.
