The aircraft was delivered while located at the Airbus facility in Toulouse on the 20th of November and is the airline’s milestone 250th aircraft delivery. This marks the first aircraft delivery as part of a seven sale-and-leaseback transaction SMBC Aviation Capital has with the airline. A delivery event was held at Budapest airport last Friday. The aircraft is to be operated by the airline’s subsidiary, Wizz Air Malta.
Commenting on the deal, the CEO of SMBC Aviation Capital, Peter Barrett, said: “We are delighted to support Wizz Air in reaching this important milestone. Being part of delivering their 250th aircraft is a testament to the strength of our long-standing relationship and to Wizz Air’s growth story. We look forward to continuing to provide modern, fuel-efficient aircraft that enable Wizz Air to pursue its ambitious expansion strategy.”
Also commenting at the event was the CEO of Wizz Air, József Váradi, who added, “The 250th aircraft is far more than just adding another aircraft to our fleet – it is a defining moment in Wizz Air’s history. This milestone reflects over two decades of bold decisions, relentless innovation, and the passion of thousands of colleagues and partners who share the same vision and believe in making air travel more affordable and accessible for all. It proves that our strategy is working, and our momentum now is stronger than ever. We remain dedicated to doubling our fleet in the decade ahead and providing ever more low-fare flights to our customers. 250 is not just a number – it is a symbol of our ambition and a launchpad for the next chapter of our journey.”
