Aer Lingus New Service from Cork to Geneva Takes Off

It was “Swiss-tory” in the making on Saturday afternoon as Aer Lingus’ new direct service from Cork to Geneva took off for the first time. Flight EI852 departed shortly after 13.15, and before boarding, passengers travelling on the inaugural flight were presented with special gifts to mark the occasion, including specially branded Christmas baubles and Swiss chocolates. The Cork – Geneva service will fly each Saturday between until 6th of March 2026. Geneva is the gateway to world-class winter sports and provides direct access to some of Europe’s best ski resorts, including Chamonix, Verbier, and Zermatt – all of which are within a convenient transfer from Geneva Airport. The city itself is situated next to the splendid Lake Geneva and is home to many worldwide institutions such as the United Nations and the International Red Cross. Visitors to this beautiful city can indulge in a chocolate tasting tour with some of Switzerland’s finest chocolatiers, warm up with a classic cheese fondue, or enjoy ice skating in Parc des Bastions.

Commenting on the inaugural Aer Lingus Cork – Geneva service, Head of Aviation Business Development and Communications at Cork Airport, Tara Finn, said: “The ski holiday market is growing and growing each year, and I’m thrilled to welcome Geneva as the newest addition to serve that market. The new route complements our existing services to Lyon, Munich, and Salzburg. It’s the second of Aer Lingus new routes this winter, with the new year-round service to Prague proving very popular indeed!”

Also commenting was the Chief Customer Officer at Aer Lingus, Susanne Carberry, who added, “We’re delighted to launch a new winter service to Geneva, expanding our network and giving customers even more choice for seasonal adventures. Whether it’s chasing fresh snow in the Alps or seeking a charming city escape, this new route from Cork offers customers a convenient connection to one of Europe’s most charming destinations.”
