SMBC Agree Lease with Turkish Airlines

SMBC has announced that it has signed the lease agreements with Turkish Airlines fully owned subsidiary AJet for five Airbus A320neo aircraft. With these direct leases to AJet, the aircraft will bring the number of SMBC Aviation Capital’s portfolio placed at Turkish Airlines to 25 aircraft since 2022. These five young, fuel-efficient A320neos are scheduled to be delivered between late 2025 and mid-2026 and will be operated exclusively by AJet. This transaction marks a further step in AJet’s fleet expansion and operational efficiency strategy. 

Commenting on the deal, the Chief Commercial Officer of SMBC Aviation Capital, Barry Flannery said, “This transaction is a testament to the strong relationship we have built with Turkish Airlines. The Airbus A320neo aircraft will not only enhance AJet’s operational capabilities but also contribute to a more sustainable aviation industry. Also commenting was the Turkish Airlines Chief Financial Officer and Member of the Board, and the Executive Committee Assoc Prof. Murat Şeker said, “We are delighted to further strengthen our partnership with SMBC Aviation Capital through this agreement.
