Cork Airport has welcomed the announcement that Aer Lingus Regional, exclusively operated by Emerald Airlines, will fly a new service to Glasgow from the 27th of October. In addition to the new four times weekly service to Glasgow, the airline has also announced that it will operate additional services to Bristol, bringing the existing six-times weekly service up to a nine-times weekly service.
The new Glasgow to Cork service will be operated by Emerald Airlines UK and will be operated by a Belfast-based aircraft The new service will operate on Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday.
Aer Lingus Regional will operate the Cork to Glasgow route using an ATR 72-600 turboprop aircraft. The ATR 72-600 aircraft is significantly more environmentally friendly than regional jets and other turboprops, emitting 40% less CO2. Additional services to Bristol come in response to growing demand from passengers and underscores Aer Lingus Regional’s commitment to providing more flexibility and convenience, with a second daily service on Friday and Sunday, along with a new Saturday service.
Welcoming the announcement, the Managing Director at Cork Airport, Niall MacCarthy said, “We love the Aer Lingus Regional brand at Cork Airport. It now serves two vibrant UK cities, along with the eight destinations served by the Aer Lingus mainline brand. We are growing strongly, both inbound and outbound, from Cork Airport and more routes and greater connectivity are always welcome, proving that flying from Cork is the easiest flying experience in the country.”
