@jonostrower Before Boeing CEO David Calhoun formally pulled the plug on an all-new airplane development effort, the company was quietly working with customers and suppliers on a large single-aisle replacement to the 757-200 and 757-300.

@jonostrower Calhoun said that it takes as many hours to return each stored 737 Max to service as it did to build and assemble in the first place. #BoeingID.

@jonostrower Boeing’s Deal notes that it takes MORE hours to inspect and rework a stored 787 than it takes to assemble each one the first time around. #BoeingID.

@jonostrower Boeing Commercial Airplanes CEO Stan Deal said that the 737 Max has a 99.5% dispatch reliability, which — he notes — is better than the 737 NG at the moment. #BoeingID.

@jonostrower There are a lot of reasons why Boeing was able to build six clean sheet airplanes in 27 years. Airline & industry regulation, technology adaptation and scaling and the rate of change and a comparatively immature market for commercial aircraft.
