AFG Aviation Ireland Sell One Boeing 747-8

AFG Aviation Ireland Limited (AFG), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Aircraft Finance Germany GmbH, has announced the sale of one Boeing 747-8JA to The Boeing Company. The aircraft carries the registration N458BJ and serial number 40065. The aircraft was built in 2012 and is one of the lowest time airframes in existence. The aircraft was flown to Basel in Switzerland for fit-out for its new owner, reported to be a Saudi Crown Prince but he died prior to the aircraft being ready for delivery. The aircraft was never delivered and remained in an all-white colour scheme. AFG Ireland acquired the aircraft in July 2019 and it has now been sold to Boeing in April 2022. The aircraft was ferried from Basel to Marana in Arizona for continued storage on 15th April. It is unclear at this stage if Boeing has acquired the aircraft for delivery to a customer in the near future.

Commenting on the deal, the Chief Executive Officer of AFG Ireland Christian Nuehlen said, “We are more than pleased that the aircraft has found such a good home at Boeing. I would like to thank both AFG’s team and the team at Boeing for their hard work and dedication to this project.”

Also commenting was the Vice President of Asset Management for Boeing Capital Corporation, Thomas Hansen who added, “It was a pleasure to partner with AFG on this transaction. The AFG team are experienced and dedicated professionals and we look forward to continuing our successful relationship.”
