@airkarp Spain’s @volotea plans to open its 7th airport base in France from April 1, noting flights to/from France make up 49% of the carrier’s operations. The newest base will be at Lille Airport, @HofmannAviation  reports.

@anuragkotoky Boeing and Airbus are in talks with Tata Sons, the new owners of Air India, about an order for a raft of new planes. The talks with planemakers and lessors are for jets including Airbus A350-900s and Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.

@AvWeekScho Air NZ’s current plan for the upcoming winter season is to operate around 50-60% of pre-COVID capacity for Australia and Pacific Islands, and in the 15-20% range for long-haul. There is still uncertainty about demand after border reopens due to isolation requirement.

@AvWeekScho Qantas hopes to finalize business case for Project Sunrise by mid-year, says CEO Joyce. If they do place the order for A350-1000s then, it could mean the flights start mid-2025 (two years later than the plan pre-COVID).

@AvWeekScho SIA reports net profit of S$85M for the December quarter – first quarterly profit since pandemic began. Passenger capacity reached 45% of pre-COVID levels by end of Dec, projected to reach 51% by March.
