Positive Forecast for Cork in 2022
A total of 258,000 passengers flew in and out of Cork Airport in 2021 with August 2021 being the busiest month. However, with the easing of travel restrictions and the full reopening of the airport following the runway upgrade works, Cork Airport expects to have over 1.8 million passengers pass through the airport this year. The airport has flights from eight airlines serving 37 routes.

Commenting on the prospect of a busy year at Cork Airport Managing Director, Niall MacCarthy said, “The Covid-19 pandemic dealt a drastic blow to the entire aviation industry throughout 2020 and 2021. However, with the easing of restrictions combined with huge pent-up demand, we expect 2022 to be a bumper year for Cork Airport. Cork Airport remained open throughout the pandemic providing essential connectivity for repatriation, cargo and essential travel. Now those restrictions are eased, we are in pole position to recover fast and provide the friendly, easy gateway for over 1.8 million people to travel into and out of the South of Ireland in 2022. In 2021, we completed the reconstruction of our main runway and our airside electrical systems in record time and on budget to safeguard our future and we are confident that this runway will be very busy in the year ahead,”
