Pilot Survey – Covid19 Related Skill Fade
My name is Julia Frenkoglou and I am conducting a survey for my master’s thesis with the University of Surrey. As a result of the outbreak of the Covid19 pandemic, airlines had to undergo operational restructures, with the most significant being reduction in flying hours, furloughs and redundancies. Now that the industry is slowly recovering and pilots are returning to flying, through this survey I aim to examine the applicability of Skill Fade on flight crews. The term skill fade refers to the absence of one’s ability to exercise their skills over a long period of time and is related to safety operations.
