SMBC Aviation Capital Delivers more Aircraft to Delta, Jet Smart and SAS
Dublin based leasing company SMBC Aviation Capital continue to place new aircraft with major airlines despite the continuing pandemic and the fall in demand for air traffic. Following on from the delivery of aircraft to Southwest airlines, SMBC has delivered two more Airbus A321’s to Delta airlines. The two new aircraft for Delta are N1217DX (c/n 10133) and N114DN (c/n 10122). They are the third and fourth aircraft of the eight aircraft in a deal previously announced with Delta. These two aircraft, like the previous ones in the current order, were also delivered from the Airbus facility in Mobile, Alabama.
Jet Smart Airlines, based in Santiago, Chile has taken delivery of the fifth aircraft in a five aircraft deal with SMBC Aviation Capital which started back in 2018. The aircraft, Airbus A320neo CC-AWY (c/n 10069), was handed over at Toulouse on 21st January. The duckling pictured on the tail fin ‘patito’, is the mascot of the Chilean BancoEstado, or state bank. Careful inspection also reveals the logo of the bank in the top corner of the tail. The delivery flight routed from Toulouse – Keflavik – Jacksonville (Florida) – Santiago arriving on 26th January.
On 27th January, Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) took delivery of Airbus A320neo SE-RUE (c/n 10407) from Airbus in Toulouse. SAS have a fleet of 49 Airbus A320’s and A320neo’s that have come into their fleet since 2006. This delivery is one of two acquired from SMBC Aviation Capital with the previous delivery taking place in December 2019.
