Weston Airport to close due to COVID-19

Weston Airport in Leixlip, Co. Kildare announced on Thursday afternoon that the airfield will close from 4.00pm on Friday 20th March for an indefinite period, probably two months. The news was prompted by the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in Ireland. The based flight schools have all ceased operations for the time being. The statement said that the safety of the staff, airport users, aircraft owners and organisations was paramount. Weston will facilitate the movement of based aircraft prior to the closure and if the airport remains closed for an extended period, arrangements can be made for the removal of aircraft form the airport. Aircraft will not be able to leave Weston without the adequate ATC and fire cover being provided to comply with the Aerodrome Licence Regulations.
