Runway Aviation Club Ghana founder and CEO Okyere Obed (23) was presented at the EDUCOM Awards 2016 ceremony, August 27th at the Holiday Inn, Accra, Ghana with the Young Advocate Award for “Individual students or group of students who have successfully advocated for young people either through writing, negotiations, interventions or representations.
Runway Aviation Club – Ghana was born in 2014 from an idea by Okyere Gyamena Obed who wanted to create a gateway for young Ghanaians into the aviation industry, to provide a platform for its members which would assist them find a career in aviation, to educate the members on available routes into the industry, to encourage the members to self-educate where possible and to approach the Ghanaian aviation industry to investigate future opportunities for members to start careers across all sectors of the industry, including the airlines, business aviation, trip support, ATC, regulation, MRO, aircraft finance and leasing.
An international education consultancy training service provider, Neogenics Education, launched the education award dubbed, “Education Community Awards 2016” (EDUCOM Awards 2016).
The awards theme, “Inspiring excellence in education delivery,” EDUCOM 2016 seeks to recognise 20 outstanding institutions, individuals and organisations in the educational sector, whose performance and activities have positively affected education.
Briefing journalists at the launce ceremony back in February, the Chief Executive of Neogenics Education, Mr Grant Bulmuo, said the public was being encouraged to submit nominations and supporting evidence.
Following the awards Mr. Obed said “I am thrilled to receive this award & I hope it helps us attract interest and support for our project, Runway Aviation Club Ghana, as we need sponsorship from companies at home & abroad to continue advising our young members on careers in all sectors of aviation”
Runway Aviation Club Ghana Honorary President, Joe McDermott, Senior Consultant at Dublin based Global FBO Consult congratulated Okyere on his outstanding achievement.
